Senate Bill 20-220 Summary

• Freezes the daily per diem rate for non-metro members of the Colorado General Assembly at 85 percent of the federal per diem rate for Denver as of October 1, 2018 for fiscal year 2020-2021.

• Allows per diem rates for fiscal years before July 1, 2020 and on or after July 1, 2021 to continue using the standard formula of 85 percent of the current federal Denver per diem rate.

• Decreases the general fund appropriation to the legislative department for the 2020-21 fiscal year by $81,162 to implement the freeze.

• Applies to legislators who do not reside in the Denver metropolitan area as designated by the legislative council executive committee.
