HB 21-1112 Summary

• School district boards of education may establish scholarship programs for students who receive a high school diploma or complete a high school equivalency examination while enrolled in the district.

• Scholarship funding must come from additional mill levy revenue approved under Section 22-54-108, gifts, grants, or donations received for the program, or a combination of these sources.

• Boards establishing scholarship programs are strongly encouraged to prioritize scholarships for students eligible for free or reduced-price meals and students whose parents lack a postsecondary credential.

• Scholarship funds should be limited to tuition, books and supplies, and transportation costs.
