School districts and charter schools must allow inbound active duty military members to use their military installation's school liaison office address to apply for open enrollment and enroll children without additional address documentation.

Military families may submit enrollment applications electronically and register children remotely without requiring physical presence in Colorado, though they must provide proof of residency and disciplinary records within 10 days of attendance.

Children of inbound active duty military members receive guaranteed automatic matriculation to the next grade and priority enrollment preference for younger siblings in the same school district or charter school.

Inbound active duty military members are defined as those with new permanent change of station orders or command letters to a Department of Defense installation in Colorado, and they are not required to provide such documentation if it would not otherwise be required for enrollment.

The act takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, subject to referendum petition requirements.
