HB 21-1257 Summary

• Renames the parks previously known as "Lincoln Park" and "Liberty Park" to collectively "Lincoln Veterans' Memorial Park" effective May 31, 2021, with boundaries at Lincoln (east), Broadway (west), Fourteenth Avenue (south), and Colfax Avenue (north).

• Amends the Colorado Veterans' Monument Preservation Trust Fund to specify that only interest earned on the principal may be expended, while gifts, grants, and donations are retained as principal.

• Authorizes the preservation trust committee to determine annually how much interest will be spent and what types of maintenance and repair work will be performed for the Colorado veterans' monument, fallen heroes memorials, and the park.

• Appropriates $10,000 to the Department of Personnel for the 2021-22 fiscal year to be used by the Division of Capital Assets for capitol complex facilities maintenance operating expenses.
