Pharmacists are eligible to receive reimbursement under the Medical Assistance Program for medically necessary services authorized under Colorado law that are not duplicative of other reimbursed pharmacist services or programs.

Clinical pharmacy services provided through federally qualified health centers are considered allowable costs and must be included in the reimbursement rate calculation for patient visits at such centers.

Pharmacists and pharmacies may seek reimbursement under Medicaid for dispensing or administering extended-release injectable medications for treatment of mental health or substance use disorders, either as a pharmacy benefit or medical benefit.

The state department must include reimbursed pharmacist services in its review of provider rates and request any necessary federal authorization to receive federal financial participation under Medicaid.

The act appropriates $372,554 for fiscal year 2021-22 ($336,097 general fund and $36,457 healthcare affordability fee fund) and anticipates $1,348,502 in federal funds for implementation.
