SB21-007 Summary

• Beginning with the 2022 general election, all registered electors must cast ballots in person at polling locations within their county of residence, except for those who affirmatively request to vote by mail

• In-person voting is limited to a 7-day period starting 6 days before election day through election day, with polling locations open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

• County clerks and recorders must establish procedures allowing registered electors to opt into voting by mail for all future general elections, with mail ballots due by 7 p.m. on election day

• All ballots must be counted by election day and counties cannot disclose preliminary results prior to releasing final election results

• The act takes effect 90 days after the general assembly adjourns unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it requires voter approval at the November 2022 general election
