Extends the sunset date for regulation of surgical assistants and surgical technologists from September 1, 2021 to September 1, 2028, allowing continued registration and oversight of these professionals.

Adds surgical assistants and surgical technologists to disciplinary provisions requiring waiting periods after license/registration surrender to avoid discipline and allowing letters of admonition and confidential letters of concern.

Expands grounds for discipline to include practicing outside scope of practice, failure to meet generally accepted standards of practice, and failure to respond timely to complaints within thirty days.

Creates a new confidential agreement provision (12-310-108.5) allowing the director to limit practice of surgical assistants and surgical technologists, except those subject to substance use disorder discipline.

Implements recommendations from the 2020 sunset report by the Department of Regulatory Agencies regarding continued regulation of surgical assistants and surgical technologists.
