As of June 8, 2021, Colorado experienced 547,191 COVID-19 cases, 30,579 hospitalizations, and 6,783 deaths from the coronavirus.

Latinos accounted for 22% of Colorado's state population but represented 42% of COVID-19 cases and 25% of deaths, while constituting less than 10% of the vaccinated population.

The disproportionate impact on Latino, Black, and Indigenous communities resulted from socioeconomic factors, employment as essential workers, and lack of access to healthcare and critical services.

The General Assembly commits to publicly remembering Coloradans hardest hit by the pandemic and recognizes those lost to COVID-19.

The resolution pledges that the state will work tirelessly to ensure other families do not endure the loss and heartache already experienced by those affected by the pandemic.
