HB22-1074 Summary

• Defines "peak period shoulder lane" as the eastbound managed toll lane on I-70 between mile marker 230 (Empire Junction) and Veterans Memorial Tunnel, or the westbound managed toll lane between Veterans Memorial Tunnel and mile marker 230.

• Prohibits driving on peak period shoulder lanes when posted signage indicates the lane is closed, except for authorized emergency vehicles, authorized service vehicles, or during emergencies.

• Prohibits all vehicles with more than two axles or that are 25 feet in length or longer from driving on peak period shoulder lanes at any time.

• Authorizes the transportation enterprise to enforce violations and assess civil penalties in accordance with existing law (Section 43-4-808).

• Takes effect August 1, 2022, and applies to violations committed on or after that date.
