HB 22-1170: Department of Corrections Supplemental Appropriation

• Amends the fiscal year 2021-22 appropriation to the Colorado Department of Corrections as established in Senate Bill 21-205, modifying Part II of the original appropriation.

• Increases payment rates to in-state private prisons from $58.79 to $63.32 per inmate per day, with intent that funds be used to provide staffing and services comparable to state prisons.

• Authorizes the Department of Corrections to transfer up to 5.0 percent of total appropriations between line items within the medical services subprogram for purchase of pharmaceuticals, Hepatitis C treatment costs, and external medical services.

• Declares the appropriation necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety under the safety clause provision.

• Total supplemental appropriation to Department of Corrections: $965,948,735 for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021.
