HB 22-1215 Summary

• Creates a Secondary, Postsecondary, and Work-Based Learning Integration Task Force to develop policies and recommendations for expanding high school programs that combine secondary education with college courses or work-based learning opportunities.

• Task force must convene by July 1, 2022, meet at least eight times through December 2023, and include representatives from K-12 education, higher education, business, disability advocacy, and the education leadership council.

• Task force shall design policies enabling four-, five-, or six-year early college programs and recommend uniform funding mechanisms while addressing implications for existing programs including ASCENT, TREP, and P-TECH schools.

• Requires interim report by December 1, 2022, and final report by December 1, 2023, submitted to the governor, state board of education, Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and legislative education committees.

• Appropriates $89,123 to the Department of Education and $1,966 to the legislative department for 2022-23 fiscal year; entire part automatically repeals January 1, 2024.
