• Extends the sunset date for the State Board of Veterinary Medicine from September 1, 2022 to September 1, 2033, continuing state regulation of veterinary practice.

• Creates a new registration system for veterinary technicians effective January 1, 2024, requiring board approval of credentialing organizations and establishing disciplinary procedures for registered veterinary technicians.

• Expands the State Board of Veterinary Medicine from 7 to 9 members by adding 2 veterinary technician representatives by March 1, 2023.

• Permits unlicensed individuals to administer rabies vaccines under direct supervision of a veterinarian, and allows animal shelter workers to administer rabies vaccines under indirect veterinary supervision with proper training.

• Appropriates $80,708 to the Department of Regulatory Agencies for the 2022-23 fiscal year to implement veterinary technician registration and board expansion.
