Colorado Department of Transportation must issue a request for proposal by June 1, 2022, for a study to be completed by June 1, 2023, evaluating devices capable of detecting drug impairment during roadside sobriety investigations.

Study must include field research with at least 100 participants and compare blood samples collected at least three times during the study against device test results.

Final report must be submitted to the Joint Transportation Committee and the Colorado Task Force on Drunk and Impaired Driving, including legislative recommendations for a pilot program.

$751,649 is appropriated from the marijuana tax cash fund to the Department of Transportation for fiscal year 2022-23 to implement the study.

Statute automatically repeals on July 1, 2024.
