Prohibits individuals from claiming to be a "board-certified music therapist" or "music therapist" or using the abbreviation "MT-BC" unless they hold an active credential from the Certification Board for Music Therapists.

Allows individuals to perform work using music incidental to their profession or occupation without being required to hold music therapist credentials, provided they do not represent themselves as music therapists.

Requires persons using protected music therapist titles or abbreviations to make their board-certified credential available for immediate inspection by consumers or state agents.

Establishes violations as a Class 2 misdemeanor, with the attorney general or district attorney authorized to first seek an assurance of discontinuance before criminal charges.

Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, subject to referendum petition; applies to conduct occurring on or after the effective date.
