HCR 22-1005 Summary

• Submits a constitutional amendment to Colorado voters at the November 8, 2022 election concerning the newly created Twenty-Third Judicial District.

• Requires the Governor to designate district judges from the Eighteenth Judicial District to serve in the Twenty-Third Judicial District no later than November 30, 2024.

• Requires each designated judge to establish residency in the Twenty-Third Judicial District no later than January 7, 2025.

• Allows designated judges to seek retention in the Twenty-Third Judicial District upon completion of their last elected or appointed term.

• Amendment becomes part of the state constitution if at least 55 percent of voters voting on the ballot title vote "Yes/For".
