CO SB020

Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 24-12-103 to add court reporters holding Registered Professional Reporter certification or higher to the list of professionals authorized to administer oaths and affirmations.

Court reporters with the required certification may administer oaths and affirmations to witnesses and others concerning matters pending, commenced, or to be commenced before them.

Court reporters with the required certification gain the same authority as judges, magistrates, referees, clerks, and notaries public to administer oaths of office, affidavits, and depositions.

The bill includes a safety clause declaring the act necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace, health, or safety.
