• Creates the Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program within the Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Board to provide grants to local law enforcement agencies for critical incident training to peace officers.

• Grant funds must be used for necessary expenses including tuition, instructor costs, curriculum, materials, and supplies related to critical incident training.

• Appropriates $50 million for the 2022-23 state fiscal year, with the P.O.S.T. Board able to use up to 3% of appropriated funds for program administration.

• Grant recipients must submit reports by September 1, 2023 detailing expenses and evidence of training impact; the P.O.S.T. Board must submit a summary report to legislative judiciary committees by January 5, 2024.
