SB22-088 Summary

• Requires the Colorado Commission on Higher Education to establish policies and procedures for an existing tuition assistance program that give preference to students enrolled in building and construction trade certificate programs

• Mandates that at least the first $200,000 of annual funding must be provided to students enrolled in building and construction trades certificate programs

• Defines "building and construction trade certificate programs" as programs for occupations performing construction, reconstruction, renovation, alteration, demolition, painting, repair, or maintenance work on roads, highways, buildings, structures, industrial facilities, or other improvements

• Requires the General Assembly to annually appropriate $650,000 for the tuition assistance program

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following the 90-day period after final adjournment of the General Assembly, unless subject to a referendum petition
