Senate Bill 22-100 Summary

• Extends the Colorado Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board sunset date from September 1, 2022 to September 1, 2027, and requires legislative review before repeal under section 2-3-1203.

• Adds new duties for the review board including providing technical assistance to local governments, pursuing implementation of recommendations to improve communication between agencies, reduce domestic violence fatalities, and improve incident responses.

• Requires the review board to make a 2022 annual report recommendation on diversity, equity, and inclusion training for emergency call responders and local board members to increase trust with domestic violence victims.

• Directs the review board to develop best practices for collecting domestic violence fatality data, coordinate information-sharing between local teams, and prioritize support for review teams in underserved and rural communities.

• Appropriates $43,350 from the general fund to the Department of Law for fiscal year 2022-23 and decreases prior cash fund appropriations by $2,500.
