SB 22-189 Summary

• Creates the Colorado Multidisciplinary Geriatric Provider Pipeline Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to coordinate and expand geriatric training for clinical graduate students in medicine, physician assistant, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, psychology, and social work.

• Beginning in fiscal year 2023-24, selects two clinical graduate students per year from each of the seven health-care fields to participate in geriatric curriculum and hands-on experiential training in clinical settings.

• Establishes the Geriatric Training Executive Advisory Committee with representatives from each participating health-care discipline to set training standards, select students, analyze program data, and coordinate with program graduates to serve as future trainers.

• Requires annual reporting by July 1 beginning in 2024 to the Public and Behavioral Health and Human Services Committee of the Senate, including data on student participation, graduates, and job placement recommendations for legislative or regulatory changes.

• Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, subject to referendum petition procedures and potential approval at the November 2022 general election.
