HB 23-1055 Summary

• Prohibits the use of voting systems capable of establishing wireless connections in any Colorado election beginning January 1, 2024.

• Creates new statute 1-5-608.3 in Colorado Revised Statutes establishing the prohibition and its effective date.

• Subsection (2) of the new statute is repealed effective July 1, 2025, making this a temporary prohibition.

• Act takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following expiration of the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless a referendum petition is filed.

• If a referendum petition is filed, the act will not take effect unless approved by voters at the November 2024 general election.
