History Colorado is authorized to dispose of three properties that no longer fit its mission: the McFarlane House in Central City (acquired 1976), the Pearce-McAllister Cottage in Denver (acquired 1972), and the Pueblo Museum Support Center in Pueblo (acquired 1955).

The McFarlane House has been leased to the Central City Opera since 1976; the Pearce-McAllister Cottage was vacant after operating as the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys until 2018; and the Pueblo Museum Support Center's artifacts have been moved to Denver storage.

The Capital Development Committee and State Controller must approve all disposition agreements prior to closing.

Proceeds from the property sales must be credited to the state museum cash fund to be used for acquiring or constructing a consolidated collections care and storage facility or for controlled maintenance.
