HB 23-1217 Summary

• The Transportation Legislation Review Committee shall analyze issues of individuals whose motor vehicles were nonconsensually towed by law enforcement or from private property because the vehicle was stolen or the owner was a crime victim incapable of attending to the vehicle.

• The committee may take testimony from interested or knowledgeable people and conduct research on the issue during the 2023 legislative interim.

• The committee shall make recommendations to the General Assembly, and any recommended legislation receives treatment as interim committee recommendations for purposes of introduction deadlines and bill limitations.

• This subsection is repealed effective July 1, 2024.

• The act takes effect 90 days after final adjournment, or upon voter approval at the November 2024 general election if a referendum petition is filed.
