HB23-1262 Summary

• Amends the Colorado Re-engaged (CORE) initiative to allow students to receive an associate degree after earning 15 or more credit hours from a single institution, rather than requiring students not to have transferred directly from any institution.

• Modifies the eligibility requirements in Colorado Revised Statutes section 23-1-131.5(5)(a)(I) for students seeking associate degrees through four-year institutions governed by the state board of community colleges and occupational education.

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following the 90-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless subject to a referendum petition filed within that period.

• If a referendum petition is filed, the act will not take effect unless approved by voters at the November 2024 general election.
