Expands qualifying uses of paid sick leave to include grieving, attending funeral services or memorials, and handling financial and legal matters after a family member's death.

Allows employees to use paid sick leave when a family member's school or childcare facility closes due to inclement weather, power loss, heating loss, water loss, or other unexpected events.

Permits employees to use paid sick leave to evacuate their residence due to inclement weather, power loss, heating loss, water loss, or other unexpected emergencies.

Appropriates $74,927 to the Department of Labor and Employment for the 2023-24 fiscal year to implement the law, including 0.9 additional FTE for the division of labor standards and statistics.

Takes effect 12:01 a.m. the day after the 90-day period following final adjournment of the general assembly, or if a referendum petition is filed, only upon voter approval in November 2024.
