Senate Bill 23-031 Summary

• Creates the Colorado Multidisciplinary Health-Care Provider Access Training Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to train graduate students in geriatric care across 11 health disciplines including medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, and social work.

• Selects two students per year from each participating health profession field beginning in fiscal year 2024-25 to receive hands-on geriatric clinical training placements in Colorado communities.

• Establishes an advisory committee by July 1, 2023, and appoints a program chair by December 1, 2023, to set training standards, select students, and identify participating higher education institutions.

• Appropriates $784,269 from the general fund for the 2023-24 fiscal year to implement the program through limited purpose fee-for-service contracts with state institutions.

• Requires annual reporting to the legislature by July 1, 2025, and each year thereafter on student participation, graduation rates, job placements, and recommendations for improving program implementation.
