SB 23-099: Special Education Funding

• Adds $40,203,671 in annual funding for special education programs serving children with disabilities, effective for the 2023-24 budget year and each year thereafter.

• Appropriates funds from the State Education Fund created under Article IX, Section 17(4) of the Colorado Constitution to the Department of Education.

• Funds are distributed to administrative units that provide educational services for children with disabilities in addition to existing special education funding sources.

• Declares the appropriation necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, or safety.
