SB 23-299 Summary

• Each Colorado institution of higher education must acquire and stock a supply of epinephrine auto-injectors.

• Institutions are encouraged but not required to place epinephrine auto-injectors in reasonable quantities in high-traffic areas including dormitories and dining halls, and to store them in emergency public access stations.

• Any person is permitted to retrieve and use an epinephrine auto-injector under this law, and emergency responders should be called immediately after use.

• Institutions must adopt a policy concerning epinephrine auto-injector placement that focuses on areas where students gather in largest volumes.

• Persons who reasonably and in good faith furnish or administer an epinephrine auto-injector, including expired ones, to someone believed to be experiencing anaphylaxis are granted immunity from liability under existing law.
