HB 24-1015: Workplace Suicide Prevention Education

• Division of Labor Standards and Statistics must create suicide prevention education posters and notices by June 1, 2025, that include training program overviews, firearm safety information, 988 lifeline details with text and multilingual options, and a QR code linking to a workplace prevention website.

• Starting July 1, 2025, all employers must display the suicide prevention poster in a conspicuous location at each workplace and include the notice in employee handbooks, manuals, or policies, with employee sign-off required.

• Employers must request notice versions in any language spoken by 5 percent or more of their workforce and provide those notices to employees whose dominant language matches.

• Office of Suicide Prevention within the Department of Public Health and Environment must develop and maintain a public website serving as a landing page with toolkits for multiple prevention training programs, crisis resources, and educational materials on firearm safety and means reduction.

• Website must inform employees they may be entitled to free mental health screenings without out-of-pocket costs.
