HB24-1064 Summary

• Establishes a special Gadsden flag "Don't Tread on Me" license plate available starting January 1, 2025, for motorcycles, passenger cars, trucks, and noncommercial vehicles under 16,000 pounds.

• Requires three one-time fees of $25 each upon issuance: one fee to the highway users tax fund, one to the Colorado DRIVES vehicle services account, and one to the state charter school debt reserve fund.

• Allows applicants to obtain personalized versions of the plate by paying the standard personalized license plate fee under existing law.

• Directs the department to design the plate in cooperation with interested persons to feature the Gadsden flag with the "Don't Tread on Me" statement.

• Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case voter approval at the November 2024 election is required.
