HB24-1106: Abortion Pill Reversal Information Act

• Creates the "Abortion Pill Reversal Information Act" requiring physicians or qualified medical professionals to provide state-prepared information about abortion pill reversal, including a phone number (877-558-0333) and website (abortionpillreversal.com), at least 24 hours before prescribing mifepristone or inducing an abortion.

• Mandates the Department of Public Health and Environment maintain reversal information on its public-facing website, with annual reviews to update contact information if resources become permanently unavailable.

• Makes failure to comply with the information disclosure requirements a deceptive trade practice subject to civil penalties, medical malpractice actions with actual and punitive damages, and professional disciplinary action against physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and counselors.

• Specifies that women upon whom the abortion was begun or performed are not subject to civil penalties, and courts must award reasonable attorney fees and costs to prevailing plaintiffs.

• Allows the General Assembly to appoint bill sponsors/cosponsors to intervene as a matter of right in any legal challenge to the law's constitutionality; takes effect 90 days after adjournment unless subject to a voter referendum in November 2024.
