HB 24-1150: False Slates of Presidential Electors

• Establishes criminal penalties for knowingly entering into agreements to submit false presidential elector slates, including written, oral, or electronic agreements.

• Criminalizes signing, filing, transmitting, or recording false lists of presidential electors with state and federal officials when electors voted for candidates who did not receive the most votes in Colorado.

• Penalizes unelected individuals who knowingly vote as presidential electors for non-winning candidates or falsely complete elector documents, and includes perjury and subornation of perjury charges for false oaths.

• Imposes fines up to $10,000 for false instrument or forgery convictions; adds additional penalty of ineligibility for public office and state assembly membership for perjury or subornation of perjury convictions.

• Takes effect July 1, 2024 and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
