HB 24-1209 Summary

• Creates the America 250-Colorado 150 Cash Fund in the state treasury to receive revenue from commemorative items sold by the America 250-Colorado 150 commission and any other money the General Assembly appropriates or transfers to it.

• Money in the fund is continuously appropriated to the commission through History Colorado to provide community grants statewide for local commemoration activities related to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood.

• The commission must submit annual reports to the Joint Budget Committee by October 15 each year for three consecutive years (starting October 15, 2024) detailing grant recipients, amounts awarded, and grant uses.

• All unexpended and unencumbered money remaining in the fund on June 30, 2027, shall be transferred to the General Fund.

• The statute is repealed effective December 31, 2027, ending the fund and commission operations.
