Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 17-1-115.8 to allow discussions with individual corrections officers (rather than employees generally) regarding work periods and compensation practices.

Corrections officers working 12 or more hours in a single 24-hour period must be paid 1.5 times their regular rate of pay for time exceeding 8.5 hours, unless the additional time is part of their normal shift in a compressed, flexible, or alternative scheduling system.

Creates an exception to overtime pay requirements when hours beyond 8.5 hours are part of a corrections officer's established longer normal shift within a compressed, flexible, or alternative work schedule.

Includes a safety clause declaring the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, or safety and for support and maintenance of state departments and institutions.
