HB 24-1305 Summary

• Expands P-Tech (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) programs to include major industry categories beyond STEM, including life sciences, social sciences, business and finance, construction, community services, and transportation occupations.

• Removes the restriction that P-Tech courses must be "focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics," allowing greater flexibility in program design and course offerings.

• Exempts college-level credit hours earned by high school students in P-Tech programs from counting against the lifetime credit hour limitation for College Opportunity Fund stipends.

• Allows state institutions of higher education to grant one-year waivers of lifetime credit hour limitations to P-Tech students upon request, in addition to existing waiver provisions.

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. the day after the 90-day period following final adjournment of the general assembly, or November 2024 if subject to voter approval via referendum petition.
