Colorado Professional Fire Fighters license plates expire and cannot be transferred to another vehicle when the original vehicle is sold or transferred.

A person whose license plate expires under this rule may reapply for a new Colorado Professional Fire Fighters license plate by paying the required taxes and fees and meeting other eligibility requirements.

$4,010 is appropriated to the Colorado Department of Revenue for fiscal year 2024-25 to implement the bill, including $2,976 for DRIVES system maintenance, $224 and $315 for personnel services, and $495 for information technology payments.

The act takes effect 90 days after the 2024 legislative session ends, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case voter approval at the November 2024 general election is required.
