Extends the sunset date for regulation of funeral establishments and crematories from July 1, 2024 to September 1, 2029, continuing state oversight of mortuary science practitioners.

Requires routine periodic inspections of all funeral establishments and crematories as determined by rule, with authority to inspect during business hours, after registration expiration, and upon new registration applications.

Mandates funeral establishments obtain and maintain professional liability insurance with minimum $1 million in coverage and submit certificates to the director within 30 days of initial registration.

Requires written contracts between funeral establishments and all subcontractors or agents, made available to consumers and the director upon request.

Appropriates $339,196 for the 2024-25 fiscal year to the Department of Regulatory Agencies, including 2.8 FTE for personal services and $44,807 to the Department of Law for legal services.
