HB 24-1455 Summary

• Changes the effective date for the Twenty-Third Judicial District from January 7, 2025 to January 14, 2025

• District court judges serving in the Eighteenth Judicial District who live within the new Twenty-Third Judicial District boundaries shall complete their current terms in the new district

• Eligible judges may participate in retention elections in the Twenty-Third Judicial District in the same year they would have been eligible in the Eighteenth Judicial District

• Allows the Eighteenth Judicial District to divide its operations and employees into two distinct units prior to January 14, 2025 to facilitate the establishment of the new district

• Judge assignments after January 14, 2025 shall follow sections 10 and 11 of Article VI of the Colorado State Constitution
