Law enforcement agencies must investigate allegations of misconduct, criminal conduct, or unprofessional conduct by peace officers; peace officers who fail to report such allegations commit a class 2 misdemeanor.

Persons making misconduct allegations have a private right of action if their allegation is not investigated.

Law enforcement agencies cannot charge fees for releasing unedited video and audio recordings of incidents involving officer-involved shootings or misconduct complaints.

Peace officers subject to retaliation for whistleblowing have a private right of action against their employer and can seek remediation including reinstatement if they prove retaliation by preponderance of evidence.

The attorney general must accept and investigate reports of agencies failing to report officer misconduct to the P.O.S.T. board database within available resources.
