• Expands peer support privilege protection to include emergency medical service providers, rescue unit members, and district attorney or public defender peer support team members in addition to law enforcement and firefighters.

• Adds protection for group peer support services, preventing recipients from being examined about knowledge gained from other group participants without consent of the person to whom the knowledge relates.

• Defines "group peer support services" as peer support interactions with at least one peer support member and more than one recipient, including group meetings for peer support or incident debriefing.

• Maintains exceptions to the privilege when peer support team members witness incidents being discussed, when information indicates child abuse or neglect, crimes against at-risk persons, imminent danger to self or others, mental health crises, or criminal conduct.

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following the 90-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly, subject to voter approval if a referendum petition is filed.
