Expands the definition of "state trooper" under the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) to include duly sworn employees of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control whose duties involve structural or wildfire management, wildfire response, live-fire training, or wildfire leadership, effective July 1, 2025.

Employees qualifying under this expansion must be determined by the Executive Director of the Department of Public Safety based on their job duties.

Allows wildfire mitigation employees in the Division of Fire Prevention and Control to access state trooper retirement benefits under PERA.

Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case voter approval at the November 2024 general election is required.
