History Colorado is authorized to dispose of real property located at 1100 W. 47th Ave., Denver, Colorado 80211 (the north storage facility acquired in 2011).

The facility currently houses 85,000 square feet of artifacts but is inadequate for storage needs and has building system issues with electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems.

Capital development committee and state controller must approve all agreements related to the property disposition prior to closing.

Proceeds from the sale must be credited to the state museum cash fund for moving costs, retrofitting, lease-related expenses, and acquisition costs for a new leased storage facility or controlled maintenance.

Act takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it requires approval by voters at the November 2024 general election.
