Colorado State Patrol shall provide law enforcement services for the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center and its grounds, subject to available appropriations.

Administrators of judicial security employed by the judicial department are peace officers with authority to enforce all Colorado state laws and must be certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Board.

Additional judicial security administrators are granted temporary peace officer status pending P.O.S.T. Board review, with temporary status becoming permanent upon favorable recommendation or expiring June 30, 2025, unless the General Assembly provides otherwise.

Any new peace officer positions created under this section after January 1, 2025, must be approved by the General Assembly through a decision item in the judicial department's annual budget request.

Colorado State Patrol shall provide protection to Colorado judges and justices when they are present in state capitol buildings group.
