• Removes authorization for public schools to refuse donated automated external defibrillators (AEDs) based solely on the donor not agreeing to cover maintenance costs.

• Requires donating parties to be responsible for AED training, installation, and maintenance if a public school accepts the donation; if the donor can no longer maintain the device, the school may accept responsibility or remove it.

• Grants public schools authority to decide who receives training, training frequency, and timing of AED training and installation regardless of donor preferences.

• Requires any AED acquired by a public school to be appropriate for use on both children and adults.

• Declares the act necessary for immediate preservation of public health and safety.
