Requires death certificates in Colorado to record the decedent's gender identity, which may be designated as male, female, or "X"

Accepts multiple forms of documentation to establish gender identity, including court orders, written instructions from the decedent, health-care directives, proof of clinical treatment for gender transition, amended birth certificates, or driver's licenses

Mandates the State Registrar issue an amended death certificate when presented with documentation showing a gender identity different from what was originally recorded, with the amended certificate replacing the original without being marked as "amended"

Requires the Department of Public Health and Environment to add a gender field to the death certificate form and electronic death registration system by January 1, 2026

Allows individuals with the right to control disposition of remains to object to the recorded gender before filing, and permits court claims to amend a death certificate's gender designation
