Defense teams gain the right to view and inspect any tangible evidence held by law enforcement no later than 35 days before trial at a law enforcement-designated location

Law enforcement must be present during inspections to document chain of custody, while defense must be allowed confidential conversations and work product creation

Recordings of evidence viewings may only be used to ensure chain of custody and evidence integrity, and cannot be placed in discovery unless a court finds the viewing affected evidence integrity

Peace officers are prohibited from using body-worn or dash cameras to record defense teams viewing, inspecting, or discussing evidence

Provisions do not apply to sexually exploitative material, and do not limit the defense's ability to request independent testing of evidence
