Eliminates the current vacancy committee process for filling county commissioner vacancies and replaces it with a vacancy election open to voters in the affected district

Vacancy elections held within 180 days of a scheduled primary, coordinated, or general election are conducted as part of that election; otherwise held 30-60 days after the vacancy occurs

Candidates must submit a notarized statement of intent with a $500 nonrefundable filing fee to the Secretary of State and be registered with the vacating commissioner's political party by January 1 of the election year

Only registered electors residing in the district who are affiliated with the vacating commissioner's party or are unaffiliated may vote in the vacancy election

Person elected serves the remainder of the vacated term and takes office upon certification of election results
