First responders and their spouses or civil union partners may request that their address in voter registration records be kept confidential, without needing to demonstrate a threat of criminal harassment or bodily harm

"First responder" includes peace officers, firefighters, volunteer firefighters, emergency medical service providers, and emergency communications specialists

County clerks must make confidentiality request forms available in office, by mail, email, or fax, and must accept completed applications through any of these methods

Processing fees for confidentiality requests are eliminated; county clerks may not impose any charges for processing these applications

Act takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the general assembly, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it would be subject to voter approval in November 2026
