Elected county officials in any county may elect to receive any amount of salary lower than the statutory amount, or no salary at all, with elections submitted annually in writing to the county treasurer at least 30 days before the next fiscal year

District attorneys gain the same ability to voluntarily reduce or forgo their salary, with elections submitted to the county treasurer or Denver's chief financial officer under the same 30-day deadline

Mesa County moves from salary category I-D to category I-A effective January 1, 2029, resulting in a percentage salary increase for the county's elected officials

Any money saved from officials electing reduced salaries remains available for expenditure in the county's general fund

The General Assembly encourages county commissioners to adopt a resolution indicating their position when the legislature considers proposals to move counties to different salary categories
