Peace officers are prohibited from asking drivers or passengers if they know the reason for a traffic stop

Officers must inform the vehicle operator of the reason(s) for the traffic stop, unless doing so would be unreasonable under the totality of the circumstances

Failure to comply with these requirements is not grounds for exclusion of evidence or dismissal of charges

Creates new section 42-4-1704.5 in Colorado Revised Statutes governing peace officer questioning during traffic stops
